Daara
Memorise the Quran, with recitation checked on the phone

Listen to a reciter, repeat the verse the way children do at the daara, then recite it. Daara listens in the browser, marks each word right or wrong, and brings verses back with spaced repetition just as they start to fade. Families can split a khatm by sending one link on WhatsApp. It checks words, not tajwid rules, and only knows the Hafs reading.
What's interesting about it
- Speech recognition runs on the device: a Whisper tiny model fine-tuned on Quran recitation, exported to ONNX (4-bit encoder, 8-bit decoder, about 40 MB) and run with Transformers.js. The voice never leaves the phone.
- 98.0 % of words recognised correctly on a 48-clip benchmark of EveryAyah reciters, about 6 s per verse on a mid-range phone.
- Each word is compared with the verse text, so the hidden text comes back one word at a time as you say it right.
- FSRS spaced repetition for review; an optional Zaleo account syncs progress through Convex.
- Works offline as an installable PWA; the model is downloaded once and kept.
